About Roatan
Roatan's popularity has made a great boost due to the fact that it caters to the needs of baby boomers who are planning to retire in an amazing environment and are also interested in having a solid and affordable investment, with good growth potential and favourable retirement taxes. With the second largest barrier reef in front of the island the diving is rated one of the best in the world. Furthermore the steep drop offs on the other side of the reef are known to be fantastic for deep sea fishing, and they are located only five minutes from the dock. Just recently Roatan has also been voted "top 10 locations for Permit" by Fly Fishing in "Salt Water Magazine". The three main species that are known to be targeted by fly fisherman (bonefish, tarpon and permit) are found in large quantities in our turquoise waters . The powder white beaches that flow over into the sparkling turquoise waters tend to be the ideal scenery for relaxing and enjoying the simpler things in life. Even if water and beach is not really your thing Roatan has amazing nature trails tracking through the lush tropical mountain ridges that stretch along the centre of the island from the West End all the way to the East End . Here you can enjoy looking at different species of iguanas, butterflies and birds. Or just taking a moment, to enjoy the shoreline views and the spectacular sunsets. Our newest activity that can soon be added to the list is golf, on the Pete Dye designed 18 hole PGA certified golf course. Pete Dye is considered to be one of the most influential golf course designers in the world and the sixth recipient of the PGA lifetime Achievement Award. In 2008 he will also be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Together with EDSA (the well known landscape architecture company) he will implement the philosophy which the Dye family is known for, namely eco-sensitive golf courses. This golf course especially in combination with over six international flights direct to the island and 450.000 cruise ship passengers, will certainly bring Roatan into " a whole new ball park". This is one of the reasons why we expect good growth potential for the future. Furthermore the prices on the island are still very reasonable compared to other comparable islands such as the Turks and Caicos and Cayman Islands etc.
